Do you have your own laser cutter and Lightburn software? If so, these plans will let you reproduce my paint rack design on your own, and modify the design for your specific needs. This is the complete technical file for use in Lightburn to cut and create a paint rack.

This design includes all parts to cut and assemble what I am calling my “Apothecary Paint Storage Cabinet”. The main cabinet is cut from 5mm material, with the drawers from 2.8mm material. Each drawer is sized to fit 6 dropper-bottle style paint pots (Army Painter, etc), with 20 drawers, the box can hold 120 paint colors. Each drawer front is engraved with squares to mark which colors are located in each drawer – my intent is to mimic the Army Painter “Triad” system of 3 and 6 colors with Base, Mid, and Highlights.

Fully assembled, the cabinet measures 13.87 inches (352 mm) wide, 15 inches (380 mm) tall, and 3.63 inches (92 mm) deep. Your laser will need a workspace of at least the same size to fit all the parts (especially the front and back) without alteration.

Basic materials include 6 cuts of 5mm material, plus 2 cuts of 2.8mm material, plus 1 additional cut of either 5mm or 2.8mm material (optional sizing for drawer backs), using a basic template of 16×16 inches. Depending on your cut bed size, you can re-arrange most of the pieces to minimize waste.

Note – some adjustments may be needed for your specific machine and material. Be sure to doublecheck the burn power and speed, and adjust slots if needed. My design is based on 2.8mm plywood and 5mm plywood – any thicker or thinner material may need adjustments.
